Denton County Water Quality Report
Denton municipal water and NTMWD supplies are different.
This hub separates City of Denton results from Frisco and Plano reports for customers served by those utilities. Do not borrow a neighboring city's hardness number when your own utility has not supplied one.
Cannot assess high or lowThis does not establish whether PFAS are present or absent. Check compound-specific testing before choosing treatment.
ppm ≈ mg/L; ppb ≈ µg/L; ppt ≈ ng/L in drinking water. Hardness in gpg = mg/L as CaCO₃ ÷ 17.1. ND means not detected at the method’s reporting limit—not zero.
MCL is a maximum contaminant level. MRDL is a disinfectant limit. Lead/copper action levels use system sampling percentiles and are not a safe-tap threshold. TTHM/HAA5 compliance uses locational annual averages.
PFOA/PFOS comparisons use EPA’s 4 ppt values. Historical detections are not a present compliance finding; EPA assesses compliance using running annual averages. Rule implementation is being reviewed. EPA PFAS benchmarks and implementation ↗
Source water. Denton treats surface water from Lake Lewisville and Lake Ray Roberts. These are its own utility sources; NTMWD hardness should not be substituted for Denton municipal water.

City of Frisco
2025 data; lead and copper sampled July 28, 2023
Results for City of Frisco customers. Confirm the retail utility and system on your bill.
Your water at a glance
See the amount, the comparison and what it means. “Below” refers to the stated benchmark, not zero risk.
Hardness
Supplier range: moderate to very hard
Wylie: 96–200; Leonard: 96–144mg/L as CaCO₃
Ranges from NTMWD treatment plants; not city distribution or home measurements
The supplier ranges reach hard or very hard levels, supporting a softener recommendation for scale control; measure your incoming water to size and set it correctly.
Moderately hard to very hard (Wylie); moderately hard to hard (Leonard)The supplier ranges reach hard or very hard levels, supporting a softener recommendation for scale control; measure your incoming water to size and set it correctly.

Source water. Frisco receives treated NTMWD surface water. Its2025 report includes Wylie and Leonard supplier tables separately from Frisco distribution sampling.

Chloramine
2.59 ppmAverage of quarterly data; individual samples 0.38–4.00 ppm
Below 4 ppm MCL comparisonThe report lists fluoride separately for two supplying plants; whole-home carbon filtration is not the same as dedicated fluoride treatment.

Source water. Plano distributes purchased surface water treated by NTMWD. Its report provides separate Wylie and Leonard treatment-plant tables, so supplier readings should not be presented as measurements throughout Plano.
Your provider needs its own report.

More about your local water
What this means for your home
Denton treats water from Lake Lewisville and Lake Ray Roberts. Frisco and Plano reports include NTMWD supplier data. Some service areas cross county lines, so confirm the utility rather than using a mailing address as proof of service.
Does Frisco's hardness report describe City of Denton water?
No. They are different water systems. The reviewed Denton report does not quantify hardness, while Frisco provides NTMWD plant ranges. Unknown hardness is not zero; a test of your incoming water resolves it.
Sources and methodology
We keep each utility’s results separate, show the reported sample year, and distinguish averages, maxima and tap-sampling percentiles. Hardness classifications use USGS ranges. Missing data stays unknown.
