Lakewood Ranch water quality report

Know your water. Find the right filter for your home.

Lakewood Ranch spans Manatee and Sarasota counties. Your water provider determines which report applies. This guide uses county utility reports, with results kept separate for each system. Source

How to read the numbers

Detection does not automatically mean a violation. Annual averages, individual maxima and household sampling statistics answer different questions. Benchmarks below are those printed in the source reports, not a separate claim about today’s rules.

ppm = mg/L; ppb = µg/L. ND means not detected by the reported test; < MRL means below the minimum reporting level. Neither means zero. MCLG is a health goal, not an enforceable limit. [1] [3]

How to read these results

Results come from different testing periods. A detection is not, by itself, a finding that water is unsafe. “Not detected” means below the test’s reporting level; it does not mean zero. Missing results mean we have not verified that data here.

HARD WATER, EXPLAINED

Does Lakewood Ranch have hard water?

Based on the utility hardness information above, we recommend adding a softener to help reduce scale and mineral spots. You can also buy the filter on its own.

The utility figures above reuse the Manatee County report and Sarasota County treatment guidance. A tap-water hardness test is the best way to choose softener settings for your home. You can choose a whole-house filter with or without adding a softener.

Why you may see a different number

20.5 gpg · regional estimate

MyTapWater lists 350 mg/L for the Sarasota County area. It labels this a regional estimate, not a measurement of the water delivered to your house. It is shown separately from county treatment guidance. Source

Softening is an optional choice for scale and water feel.

When a whole-house system may be the wrong fit

For drinking water alone, a suitable kitchen-tap filter may be enough. Keep working equipment that already meets your goal. Wells, shared plumbing and unusually high demand need a separate assessment. No Clearhouse system is claimed to remove every substance in this report. Source

Choose equipment using model-specific performance evidence and maintain it as instructed. Removing disinfectant throughout a home also changes microbial protection in the plumbing. Source

MAKE IT SPECIFIC TO YOUR HOME

Your water report is the start. Your home decides the fit.

A few household details help narrow the size. Choose “I’m not sure” for any details you don’t know.

  1. Confirm the name on your water bill.
  2. Share bathrooms, household size and existing equipment.
  3. Choose a system. Hire your own plumber.

Lakewood Ranch water questions

Is there a separate Lakewood Ranch water report?

We have not verified a separate community-wide drinking-water report for Lakewood Ranch. This page uses reports for Manatee County Utilities and Sarasota County Public Utilities. Match the provider on your bill before applying the results to your home.

Does a Sarasota mailing address mean City of Sarasota water?

No. A mailing city and a water utility service area are different things. This page shows Sarasota County utility results, not City of Sarasota results. Confirm the utility name on your water bill.

Do I have to add a water softener?

No. We recommend a softener for scale control based on the utility hardness information in this guide, but you can buy the whole-house filter on its own. A softener is not a substitute for selecting a filter for a specific contaminant.

Do I need to enter my street address or book an installer?

No street address is needed. Use the home details you know to explore a system, then confirm installation fit with a licensed plumber you hire. Equipment and installation are separate.

TRANSPARENCY FIRST

Sources & methodology

This community guide reuses county utility evidence where a separate Lakewood Ranch report has not been verified. Manatee’s full data is shared with our county page. Sarasota County results come from its 2025 report, 2024 hardness guidance and the named MyTapWater system. Sampling dates and regional estimates remain distinct. Private wells require their own water testing.

Clearhouse sells water treatment equipment and is not a utility or testing laboratory. Report presence alone does not establish a health risk, a need for treatment or a product’s removal performance.
