Hardness
Soft · utility guidance16mg/L as CaCO₃
CCWSA’s separate hardness guidance gives 16 mg/L, about 0.9 gpg. It does not identify a sampling year.
USGS: soft ≤60; moderately hard 61–120 mg/L as CaCO₃.

In drinking water, ppm ≈ mg/L, ppb ≈ µg/L and ppt ≈ ng/L. Calculated hardness in grains per US gallon (gpg) = mg/L as CaCO₃ ÷ 17.118, rounded to one decimal. ND means below the reporting limit, not zero.
MCL means a regulatory contaminant limit; MRDL is a disinfectant limit. Lead and copper use tap-sampling action levels. TTHM and HAA5 compliance is assessed using running averages at specific locations, not the highest single sample.
PFAS results depend on the compound, sample location, year and reporting limit. A missing result or nondetect is not proof of zero PFAS. EPA PFAS benchmarks and implementation ↗

More about your local water
The authority describes its main supply as soft: 16 mg/L hardness.
The hardness number is general utility guidance, separate from the dated contaminant table. If you use Salacoa or another local supplier, choose that system’s report before comparing treatment options.
A useful local question
The published 16 mg/L hardness figure does not support recommending a softener for scale on its own. A taste or disinfectant concern points to a different treatment decision.
Results retain the utility, sample year, units and comparison used in the source. Hardness is shown separately as a utility measurement, utility guidance or regional estimate. USGS categories describe mineral content, not drinking-water safety.
Use the published report for your own retail water system. These sources can help identify the right report; a county or ZIP alone cannot confirm service.
